Abstract

The increasing prevalence of bacteria that resist antibiotics has had a significant influence on the way we treat urinary tract infections (UTIs). This problem has increased treatment costs and put additional strain on healthcare systems. As a result, experts are looking at different therapy options, especially for women who have recurring UTIs. Probiotic supplements, particularly those featuring Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus strains, could serve as an effective preventive measure. Recent study contradicts the traditional notion that the urine system is sterile, demonstrating the presence of a resident microbiome, which plays a critical role in sustaining urinary health. According to various literature reviews, probiotics can prevent and treat urogenital infections effectively. According to this research, probiotics may be a good first-line treatment for changing the urine microbiota, which might have preventative and therapeutic effects on numerous urinary illnesses. Healthcare professionals, researchers, and policy makers must accurately assess essential aspects, such as the best bacterial strains, viable cell counts, and appropriate administration routes. To fully utilize the benefits of probiotic therapy, we need to standardize key components. This ensures that we achieve consistent and reliable results for different groups of patients. We aim to improve patient health while alleviating the rising healthcare challenges associated with UTIs. As antibiotic resistance becomes a more pressing, our commitment to developing and rigorously assessing scientifically backed alternatives, including probiotic treatments, is more critical than ever.
